In addition, the president assured that Cuba pays a stimulating social recognition to those who contribute the most.
The creators of vaccines and innovations that give sovereignty to the Cuban Covid-19 showdown are very inspiring, he noted.
By mid-year 70 percent of the Cuban population will be immunized against the SARS-Cov-2 virus as part of a vaccination strategy for population groups, according to scientists and specialists from the Island.
The route to follow began with phase III of the clinical trial of Soberana 02, the Finlay Vaccine Institute project, which involves 44,101 volunteers in eight municipalities of the capital.
It is followed by the recently started trial of the vaccine candidate Abdala, the proposal of the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, which proves efficacy in three eastern provinces, with 48 thousand subjects.
Two intervention studies are added to these studies to evaluate efficacy in risk groups, the first of which has been advancing since last Monday with Soberana 02 in Havana with 150 thousand volunteers, who will soon be joined by another 120 thousand in the eastern part of the country with Abdala.
According to official sources, depending on the epidemiological situation in each locality, it will be extended to other population groups, in a larger trial with the two candidates Soberana 02 and Abdala, to reach 1.7 million people.
At the same time, vulnerable groups such as those over 60 will be included to reach more than six million immunized people between July and early August.
