Mayabeque, Cuba: Professionals from the Aleida Fernández Chardiet Provincial Clinical Surgical Hospital, located in Güines, prioritize compliance with medical protocols for the care of Covid-19 patients.
In this sense, the health institution restructures the services to guarantee assistance to these patients according to the evolution of the cases.
Regarding the care, flow chart and measures to be followed with these patients, the Head of the Internal Medicine Service, Dr. Erenia Caridad Elejalde, explained that after admission to that center, the criteria to be followed are given by the age of the patient over 60 years of age who presents a risk of mortality and comorbidities.
?The prohibition of visits and companions is also regulated for these services. Only in strictly necessary cases the head of the service does authorize a family member to stay with the very elderly or totally disabled patients until they are discharged?, Dr. Erenia Caridad Elejalde added.
The medical center has two rooms equipped for people infected with the new Coronavirus, in addition to a cubicle in Intensive Therapy with the necessary equipment and specialized equipment in the Medical Emergency System.
?There is also a consultation for respiratory diseases at the Emergency Room, to differentiate the care of these patients. Within the framework of this care, it is foreseen that patients who may become complicated or at some point need intensive care have an isolated cubicle in the Intensive Care Unit , the doctor continued explaining.
