People of Colombia stop tax reform.

Colombia: The president of Colombia, Iván Duque, announced the withdrawal of the tax reform bill presented to Congress, which triggered the social protests and mobilizations in recent days in that country, Radio Reloj reports.

In his statement, Duque did not refer to the popular outbreak in several cities of the South American nation, nor to the repressive acts against the protesters in the mobilizations, which have claimed the lives of about twenty people.

The organization Defender La Libertad detailed that as of Saturday, 21 homicides were committed, 208 were injured, several with eye injuries, in addition to cases of sexual violence by police against women and abuses against human rights defenders.

Senator Iván Cepeda affirmed that President Iván Duque’s decision to withdraw the tax reform constitutes a victory for the people of Colombia who defended their rights.
