Havana, Cuba: The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, stressed today the need to strengthen the protocols for care of seriously ill and critical patients due to Covid-19 after discussing the day before with experts.

In a message published on his Twitter account, the president acknowledged the efforts of specialists to update the mode of action given the increase in cases with unfavorable evaluation.

?Cuba once again updates its protocol for care for critics and severely ill patiens due to Covid-19. Prestigious experts and intensive medicine professionals evaluated it. We recognized the selflessness with which our health personnel have worked for more than a year?, he wrote.

“With a scientific community totally focused on finding solutions, the nation has achieved 94.7 percent of patients recovered from Covid-19, but each death hurts and requires improvement of procedures?, he also noted.

“The effort of our physicians deserves to be supported with more discipline,” he added.

Last Tuesday, in a meeting with scientists and specialists involved in the pandemic control efforts, it was reported that the Island will maintain a growing trend in confirmed cases with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in the coming weeks.

In this regard, the dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computing of the University of Havana, Raúl Guinovart, assured that this increase will occur in almost all the territories of Cuba, including those that seemed to have the situation under control.

When updating the prognostic models on the behavior of the disease, Guinovart pointed out that the scenario looks more favorable in the capital, particularly in the municipalities where health intervention with Cuban vaccine candidates has advanced the most.

At the meeting, Díaz-Canel stressed the need to increase the demand and individual and collective responsibility in the face of the difficult epidemiological situation that the nation is going through, and highlighted the contribution of scientists and experts in facing the pandemic.
