As Martí said: “All life is duty.” This is confirmed by the students of the terminal year of the Medicine career of the Faculty of Medical Sciences of Mayabeque (FCMM), who stepped forward to support the health system in hospitals and admission centers for COVID-positive patients -19, in the new phase of community transmission decreed by the country on June 29.

“In the midst of this complex epidemiological situation in which the province is one of the  territories with the highest transmission, contagion and dispersal figures in the cpuntry, we will assume careful medical care to preserve the health of the people in very complex moments?, the president of the University Student Federation (FEU) at the FCMM, Lisbet González Blanco, said.

The flagging of the contingent, made up of 60 young people, ready to fight the pandemic, took place in the theater of the Fructuoso Rodríguez Pérez Agrarian University (UNAH), where they expressed their willingness to fulfill the duty, for which they have being trained.

“The preparation received during the years of study at the Faculty has been excellent, and we are ready to fulfill this task and support the fight against SARS-CoV-2,” Alejandro González Morán, a student from Nueva Paz said.

The university students will test their responsibility to protect themselves from a highly contagious invisible enemy and to join medical groups to assist positive patients.

They are the future health professionals who respond to the call as a pillar of our health system, as exhorted by the Minister of the sector José Ángel Portal Miranda: “we must redouble our sensitivity and our duty to the people to continue winning together.”
