Brasilia: A group made up of organizations, social movements, parliamentarians, political parties and exiles of the Government of Brazil will present today in the Chamber of Deputies a merged request for the removal of President Jair Bolsonaro, Prensa Latina publishes.
The super petition for impeachment, as announced, will join 122 other lawsuits that are waiting to be heard in the Lower House.
However, the difference in this document is the high number of signatories and its dissimilar political-partisan colors.
The delivery will be accompanied by a press conference at the headquarters of the constituent assembly and protests, planned by the Fora Bolsonaro (Out with Bolsonaro) campaign, in front of the Legislative Power.
Talíria Petrone, a federal deputy and one of the organizers of the super order, said that broad sectors of society were convinced of the need to overthrow Bolsonaro.
‘The latest testimonies in the ICC (Parliamentary Investigation Commission) of the pandemic (of Covid-19) in the Senate make explicit that we have a corrupt government, which was already showing signs before it was, but now it is evidenced by the possible over-billing of vaccines in the midst of an unprecedented health crisis, ‘he said.
For Petrone, ‘impeachment is on the agenda to stop a series of violations of the rights of the people. There are already more than half a million deaths from Covid-19 and this should already be a reason to remove the president from the Planalto Palace (headquarters of the Executive Power). ‘
She insisted that the lives lost through negligence should be enough to interrupt the ex-military’s tenure.
The action was carried out from the elaboration of the Brazilian Association of Jurists for Democracy and the document is initialed by parliamentarians from different political fields, representative entities of society and personalities.
The text presents all the crimes committed by Bolsonaro since the beginning of his mandate in January 2019 and not only during the pandemic.
Raimundo Bonfim, from the coordination of the Central of Popular Movements and the Popular Brazil Front, two of the entities that sign the statement, asserted that the political weight of this request is greater, since it contains the pressure of society seen in two large acts for impeachment, on May 29 (# 29M) and June 19 (# 19J).
‘There you have two elements. One, because it is a unified petition regardless of the different initiatives, both from political parties and from movements and fronts. This has a very strong symbolism, ‘he said.
Secondly, he stressed, it is a request that “is built with the great force of the street mobilizations.”
