More than a million students start a new school year in Cuba.

Havana, Cuba: More than one million 700 thousand children, adolescents, young people and adults in Cuba begin today the new school year 2021-2022 in some 10 thousand schools in the country, Prensa Latina publishes.

The Minister of Education, Ena Elsa Velázquez, confirmed that the school period will end on November 19 of this year, the one-week school break is scheduled for April and vacations will be from July 28 to August 27 for teachers and students, until classes resume on September 3.

“Contents are not reduced nor is compliance with the objectives of the subjects, disciplines, grades and levels affected,” the minister stressed.

Last week, the president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, celebrated the start of the new school year for basic secondary, pre-university, technical and professional education, pedagogical training, as well as the education of youth and adults.

In his official Twitter account, the president pointed out that the return to the classroom is an example of creative resistance in the face of adversity, after the control of the Covid-19 pandemic and the progress of the immunization process against that disease.

In Cuba, more than 95 percent of people between the ages of two and 18 received the complete vaccination schedule, to become a pioneer country in introducing this action in its strategy to confront the epidemic.
