New Delhi: The federations of the Democratic Youth of India and the Student Federation of the country held demonstrations today in support of the Cuban people and their Revolution in the face of attacks from the United States.
Both organizations carried out a day of solidarity with the Caribbean island in the city of Calcutta, capital of the state of West Bengal.
The Federation of Students of India demonstrated its defense of the Cuban people and their socialist Revolution in the face of the new onslaught organized from the United States.
A statement from that student entity at the Jawaharlal Nehru University, in this capital, stressed that the US rulers intensified the measures of the blockade and the financial persecution against Cuba, to suffocate its economy and try to provoke a social outbreak on the island.
“In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, US imperialism under the command of President Joe Biden decided to take advantage of the opportunity provided by the pandemic to promote instability in the small socialist nation,” the text says.
The Cuban people, it adds, have suffered for almost 60 years from the policy of the blockade imposed by Washington, which seeks to destroy the Revolution and the aspirations of its people.
This encirclement by the United States causes the greatest problems for the island’s economy and undermines the development possibilities of the Caribbean country, he says.
Despite the economic, commercial and financial blockade, the Cuban Revolution made great strides on the island, which is a leader in sustainable development, eradicated illiteracy and reached high levels of education and in the field of Medicine, it adds.
The Federation of Students of India also contrasted that while Cuba deploys solidarity medical aid with thousands of doctors and nurses around the world, the United States maintains a military presence in 150 countries, and carried out military interventions in many of them.
