Havana: The Cuban Ministry of Public Health (Minsap) reports 53 deaths from Covid-19 and 6,405 new cases of the disease at the end of July 20, 348 more than the previous day, Radio Habana Cuba reports.

Dr. Francisco Durán García, national director of Epidemiology of the Minsap, reported this Wednesday at a press conference that the patients diagnosed the day before are the result of 46,350 samples analyzed in the molecular biology laboratories of the national territory.

He said 61,482 people are admitted, of them 19,815 suspects, 4,815 under surveillance and 36,852 confirmed.

He detailed that the nation has accumulated 300,854 patients with SARS Cov-2 since the beginning of the disease in March 2020, and 2,072 fatalities.

Durán added that of the 6,405 new cases, 51 are imported and 6,354 autochthonous; 6,279 were confirmed contacts; and 126 the source of infection is not specified.

The specialist added that yesterday there were 5,117 medical discharges, which means that 261,874 patients have recovered from the disease (87.0%).

He pointed out that 319 confirmed patients are treated in intensive care, of them 148 critical and 171 serious.
