Damascus: An explosive device exploded today as a United States Army convoy passed by in the eastern province of Deir Ezzor, located some 690 kilometers northeast of the Syrian capital, Prensa Latina reports.
The attack, without identifying authors, occurred in the town of Jedeidet Bakara and caused material damage to an armor and injuries to the soldiers who were moving in it, local activists quoted by the Al-Watan newspaper said.
Last Friday, a similar attack attempted against a US military convoy in the town of Al-Basira in the same province of Deir Ezzor, after which no details were given.
On the other hand, popular protests against the illegal United States military presence on Syrian territory continue, and in the last few hours hundreds of civilians gathered in the town of Tartab in Hasakeh province, where they burned flags of that country and demanded the immediate departure of the occupying troops.
The United States military maintains troops deployed to at least 13 bases located in the oil and gas fields in the provinces of Raqa, Deir Ezzor and Hasakeh, in addition to a base in the Tanef area on the border between Iraq, Syria and Jordan.
