Mayabeque, Cuba: The influenza vaccination campaign that protects against other viruses that cause respiratory infections is carried out in the municipalities of Mayabeque, despite Covid 19.
Except in centers with institutionalized patients, the inoculation will be carried out in the vaccination centers of the health areas, with prior coordination with the family doctor. In all cases, the technical conditions and hygienic sanitary measures guided by the Ministry of Public Health will be guaranteed.
According to the health care specialist, Alianiuska Berrier, the vaccination campaign covers infants from six months of age to children of one year, eleven months and 29 days old, with two doses at an interval of four weeks. Asthmatics ages two to five years, 11 months and 29 days will also receive the medication.
Immunization is directed with particular interest to adults over 85 years of age and those institutionalized in Homes for the Elderly, Homes for Grandparents and the Psycho-pedagogical Center for the disabled.
Pregnant women will be protected, regardless of maternal age, who will be guaranteed inoculation until January next year, as established by the Maternal and Child Care Program (PAMI).
Alianiuska added that the vaccine will be reactivated for type I diabetics and asthmatics, between 19 and 24 years of age, in both cases, as well as those afflicted with cystic fibrosis, chronic kidney failure, over six years with infant cerebral paralysis and chronic psychiatric patients hospitalized.
It will also apply to workers of health centers, pig and poultry farms and those, selected from patient care services with Serious Acute Respiratory Infection, including those of the Revolutionary Armed Forces and the Ministry of the Interior, as well as other technical and professional personnel exposed to influenza HS.
