Caracas: The indigenous peoples of Venezuela will elect today in public assemblies and according to their customs, three representatives to the National Assembly (AN) for the period 2021-2026, Prensa Latina publishes.
The states of Monagas, Zulia, Amazonas and Delta Amacuro will be the settings for this event that is part of the legislative electoral schedule, as approved by the National Electoral Council (CNE) on July 24 in its special regulations for the process in those communities.
With the selection of the representatives of the native peoples, the 277 deputies who will legislate during that five-year period in the new Parliament, which will be installed on January 5, will be completed.
In the indigenous peoples, the process began in August and until mid-September the assemblies were held to choose the spokespersons, who will vote for the candidates in public assemblies and by show of hands, with the presence of witnesses from the candidate political organizations and a representative of the Electoral Power.
On December 6, the Venezuelan people elected 274 legislators. The Great Patriotic Pole Simón Bolívar (Gppsb) won 69.27 percent of the votes.
The revolutionary forces obtained four million 294 thousand 130 votes and the opposition coalition Alianza Democrática one million 95 thousand 170, a little more than 17 percent of the vote.
Meanwhile, other alliances such as Venezuela Unida, Primero Venezuela and Voluntad Popular Activa count 259 thousand 450 and the Communist Party of Venezuela (PCV) 169 thousand 236.
