Havana, Cuba: The president of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, today extolled the revolutionary values of the former president of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, whose integrity currently defeats the accusations of his adversaries.
The Cuban head of state highlighted in his Twitter account that the leader of the Workers’ Party went to jail and suffered endless suffering due to the lies of his enemies, but the truth of his attitudes prevailed.
He added that in the case of Lula, a sentence of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, is fulfilled when he said that for a revolutionary his weapons are reason, morality, truth and the ability to defend an idea. .
The day before in the same social network, Díaz-Canel, congratulated the Workers’ Party (PT) of Brazil for its 41 years of foundation and the efforts for social justice and economic development policies.
Likewise, he praised the decades of struggle of the left-wing political organization and recalled that with Lula’s victory at the polls in 2003, the political organization advanced in its aims of building a better country.
“Together we defend peace and a better world”, he added.
On a recent visit by the former Brazilian president to Havana, he was received by the first secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, Raúl Castro Ruz, and by the president of the Republic.
On that occasion, they discussed the historic brotherhood ties between the two peoples and political organizations. Lula thanked the Caribbean nation for its support in demanding its full freedom and condemned the intensification of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba for almost six decades.
The PT was founded on February 10, 1980 and is considered one of the most important parties in Brazil.
