Quito: The official results of the first round of general elections in Ecuador held on February 7, won by the correista candidate Andrés Arauz, could be proclaimed this weekend, today the president of the National Electoral Council (CNE), Diana Atamaint, announced, publishes Radio Habana Cuba.
According to what is detailed by Atamaint, the instance will announce the final data once the review of pending foreign minutes is concluded, which can be on Saturday or Sunday.
With the final results, the political actors participating in the first round, held on February 7, will be able to present the pertinent complaints.
The moment will also be propitious to ask for a vote recount, something already tried by one of the contenders for the second position, the candidate of the party representing the Pachakutik indigenous peoples and nationalities, Yaku Pérez.
The undisputed winner of the first round and a sure participant in the April 11 ballot was Andrés Arauz, candidate for president from the left-wing Union for Hope movement, who won 32.72 percent of the vote.
His contender so far is Lasso, who has 19.74 percent of the vote, while Pérez has 19.38.
