Cuba: Physicians from Cuba’s collaboration brigades abroad treated 1,988 million people in the world, said Jorge Delgado, director of the Central Unit for Medical Cooperation.
That figure represents almost a third of the planet’s population, during six decades of solidarity in which more than 14 million 500 thousand surgical operations were performed, four million 470 thousand deliveries and eight million 700 thousand lives were saved, the expert highlighted in a statement from the Ministry of Public Health.
These results raise the prestige of the Cuban medicine in the international arena and currently more than 30,407 Cuban health professionals are in 66 nations, in permanent medical brigades.
In addition, with the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic and at the request of some governments, the Henry Reeve Contingent for disasters arrived for the first time in Europe, the Italian region of Lombardy and the city of Turin.
