Havana, Cuba: Promoting the development of science and technology from the company-university union is today an essential pillar for society in Cuba, authorities of the sector said, Prensa Latina publishes.
The Vice Minister of Higher Education, Alicia Alonso, pointed out that this merger will be a source of great innovations in various sectors such as health, agriculture, transportation and infrastructure.
When intervening in the television radio program, Round Table (Mesa Redonda), she recalled that Cuba is immersed in an extensive computerization program.
For his part, the vice-head of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (Citma) of the Caribbean nation, Armando Rodríguez, highlighted that, to strengthen relations between the centers of higher studies and the fundamental entities of the economy, new organizational forms.
In this sense, he pointed out that Science-Technology Parks have already been established in Havana and the province of Matanzas.
In this regard, the director of the Matanzas institution, Vladimir Castillo, announced that one of the purposes of that entity is to turn the tourist hub of Varadero into a great digital city where residents and tourists can take advantage of the facilities of information technologies and communications related to government and electronic commerce.
Regarding the Scientific Technological Park of Havana, its president Rafael Torralbas, explained that this project, located in the facilities of the University of Computer Sciences, has a portfolio of 40 development opportunities on big data and computer security issues.
The electronic commerce, solutions for health, electronic industry and educational technologies, are among others.
In this space, there are projects such as AlaSolutions for unmanned vehicles and the German company SMaBiT, a Smart Home initiative.
The vice minister of Citma pointed out that there are 143 innovation entities in Cuba, four companies classified as High Technology, interface societies and in 2020 income accounts were created in the houses of higher studies for activities of scientific potential.
