Haiti demand justice for the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse.

Haiti: Haitian citizens carried out roadblocks on Wednesday near the hometown of the assassinated President Jovenel Moïse, to demand justice in the case of the recent assassination, Radio Rebelde reports.

Moise’s funeral will be held tomorrow in the city of Cap-Haitien, the most important in the north of the country, and will take place at the private residence of the family of the late president.

Moise was the victim of an attack by a commando of armed men who broke into his residence in Port-au-Prince in the early morning of July 7.

The attack also wounded his wife, Martine, who returned to the country last weekend after being hospitalized in a medical center in the United States.

Today the wake and mass will be celebrated in Cap-Haitien, and the funeral and burial will take place on Friday.

Although the celebrations have a state character, Moise’s family announced that they will pay all expenses, according to the first lady’s wish.

Martine Moise, widow of the Haitian president, announced that her family will pay for the state funeral of her husband, rejecting the use of public money for this purpose.

This decision does not imply anything in relation to the official and national character of the funeral, nor in relation to the solemnity that the government wants to endow the funeral service, underlines the statement, which also thanks the population for all the messages of compassion and solidarity towards the president’s family.
