Islamabad: Cuba thanked Pakistan for the support of the Cuban fight against the blockade of the United States government for more than 60 years in the person of Zéner Caro, ambassador of the Caribbean archipelago in that nation, Prensa Latina reports.
“Cuba is grateful that Pakistan has been and will continue to be by its side in its fight against the United States blockade, because it is an illegal policy that threatens the interests of the Cuban people and is contrary to international humanitarian law”, Caro said in an online session organized by the Youth Diplomacy Forum.
The event analyzed the US sanctions against the island with the participation of young students and academics from different Pakistani universities.
During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat explained the origins, implementation and intensification of the US siege in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic.
He also highlighted the island’s ambassador the 29 consecutive occasions in which the United Nations General Assembly voted in a majority against the United States’ blockade of Cuba.
