Havana, Cuba: Led by the head of the National Assembly of People’s Power, Esteban Lazo Hernández, and with the participation, by videoconference, of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Party and President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, and the Prime Minister, Manuel Marrero Cruz, the Council of State met on Wednesday, Radio Reloj publishes.
This body issued five decree-laws on relevant programs of national interest, as well as analyzed, with a view to their presentation to the deputies in the next Ordinary Period of Sessions of the Cuban Parliament, the draft laws of Courts of Justice, of the Administrative Process, of the Criminal Procedure and the Code of Procedures.
The members of the Council of State approved the decree-laws “Of the Popular Bank of Savings” and “Of the Foreign Bank of Cuba”.
The fundamental objective of both regulations is to adapt their content to the provisions of Decree-Law 362 “Of the Institutions of the Banking and Financial System”, of the September 14, 2018, which establishes the legal regime for the constitution, organization, operation, regulation, supervision, surveillance and sanction of the institutions and entities that operate in this sector.
During this Wednesday´ session, the Council also approved the decree-law “On the System of Aids to Navigation of the Hydrographic and Geodetic Service of the Republic of Cuba”, which regulates this aspect in the aquatic spaces subject to the jurisdiction of our country,
For its part, the decree-law “On the Maternity of the Worker and the Responsibility of the Families” establishes the regulations relating to the maternity of the worker, in order to expand the benefits approved in this matter.
This norm increases the rights of working mothers in the state sector and grants equal rights to those of the non-state sector and, in addition, stipulates protection to the father or other working relative who is in charge of caring for the minor, in the event of the death of the mother.
Other topics on the agenda
The Council of State issued, this Wednesday, the Decree-Law of the Labor Condition and the Special Regime of the Social Security of Creatives in the Sphere of Social Communication, with a view to recognizing labor rights and duties and establishing the special regime of social security.
This condition is granted to professionals affiliated with the Cuban Association of Social Communicators, who generate products for political, advertising, public and institutional purposes.
The members of the Council of State analyzed the bills of the Courts of Justice, the Administrative Process, the Criminal Procedure and the Code of Procedures, which will be presented to Parliament.
Such normative provisions were discussed for months by the deputies, jurists, institutions, organizations and universities, and enriched with their criteria and with the opinions of the population.
