Havana, Cuba: Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel welcomed the success of the elections held the day before in Venezuela, with the participation of more than eight million voters.
In his Twitter account, the Cuban head of state congratulated “the brave Venezuelan people and the Great Patriotic Pole, led by brother President Nicolás Maduro, for the resounding victory in the regional and municipal elections held in Venezuela.”
According to electoral sources, the United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) -in the government- won at the polls this Sunday 20 of the 23 governorates and the mayor’s office of the capital, Caracas.
Until last night, the turnout stood at 41.8 percent (eight million 151 thousand 793 voters), which could surpass that of last year’s legislative elections.
The Cuban Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez, also congratulated through Twitter the people and government of that South American nation, especially President Nicolás Maduro and the Great Patriotic Pole, for the “unequivocal victory for the Bolivarian Revolution and Chavista.”
