Beijing: The president of China, Xi Jinping, proposed today to his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, closer coordination and communication on global issues to ensure the protection of international norms and laws, Prensa Latina publishes.
During a meeting by videoconference, the president deemed it necessary to unify forces against the attempt by some countries to interfere in the internal affairs of others and even violate world provisions, under the banner of democracy and human rights.
He proposed to take advantage of the weight of both powers in spaces such as the United Nations, the Brics group or the Shanghai Cooperation Organization to raise the voice in favor of global governance and the search for practical solutions to problems such as climate change, Covid-19 pandemic and regional conflicts.
Xi advocated that Beijing and Moscow close ranks against hegemonic attitudes, the Cold War mentality and unilateralism, support each other while advancing in the implementation of their political agendas and not allow outside interference in the area under any pretext.
By highlighting the good state of bilateral relations and defining them as a benchmark in today’s world, the Chinese ruler expressed willingness to expand opportunities for cooperation in sectors such as energy, trade, industrial transformation, technological innovation, health and the development of vaccines against Covid-19.
Regarding the pandemic, he suggested agreeing on practical measures to prevent and neutralize cross-border contagion.
Among other things, Xi gave invited Putin to participate in the opening of the Winter Olympics and Paralympics Beijing-2022 and assured that the visit will be another time to exchange in depth on issues of common interest.
It was the 37th exchange between the two presidents and the previous contact was last summer, when they announced the extension for another five years of the Good Neighborhood and Friendly Cooperation Treaty, signed 20 years ago and considered a milestone because it allowed their governments to strengthen the strategic communication and mutual trust.
On that occasion, Xi said that through their close cooperation, both nations injected positive energy into the international community, just as the world is experiencing a period of turbulence and human development is facing multiple crises.
Meanwhile, Putin highlighted the determination of the two countries “to turn the common border into a strip of eternal peace and friendship.”
