Caravan of migrants will be dissolved by agreement with the government of Mexico.

Mexico: The meeting between migrant caravan members and Mexican Government officials bore fruit as some 400 members who arrived in Mexico City will be regularized on Friday, when it will be disbanded, Prensa Latina reports.

The reduced caravan, which left Tapachula more than 50 days ago bound for the border with the United States, gathered up to 4,000 people, but they mostly gave up continuing due to the difficulty of the walk.

Its proposal was transparency in granting humanitarian visas and work permits as a condition to dismantle the caravan immediately to those who join it, and those who do not, to let them continue the march northwards, and it seems that the Government accepted them.

The meeting, which took place on Thursday, when the migrants were received at the National Palace by an official representing President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, lasted more than five hours and took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of the Interior, where the agreement was adopted.

The parties agreed to hold a new meeting on January 17, 2022, to follow up on the progress of the agreements, and establish a permanent inter-institutional coordination regulatory improvement table, which will deal with the migratory situation of the group.
