Cuba: Cuba began to introduce the Chinese language as an optional second language in secondary education, in compliance with an Educational Exchange Agreement between the Ministries of Education of both countries, Radio Rebelde reports.
The Cuban Ministry of Education clarified on its website that the teaching of the new language will be a gradual process and will not be part of the school curriculum but rather an optional subject.
English will continue to be taught as a subject of the study plan of the Basic Secondary Schools, of which Mathematics, Spanish, Natural Sciences, among other disciplines, are also part.
For the classes, as part of the cooperation agreement, 120 books were received, including exercise books, manuals, dictionaries and some traditional toys, which will make learning possible for adolescents.
