Mayabeque, Cuba: The farmers of San Nicolás intensify the work of the spring campaign in order to increase food production for municipal self-sufficiency.
According to the production specialist of the Territory’s Agricultural Base Business Unit, Belquis León Arencibia, one of the objectives is to make the most of the available resources and effectively use the machinery assisted by animal traction, which has already demonstrated its effectiveness.
In the current agricultural campaign, which will last until the month of August, the peasents of the territory are planning to grow in areas planted with tubers and vegetables, mainly malanga and pumpkin.
In the same way, the cooperative and peasant sector, distributed in 14 productive forms, in response to the strategy promoted by the country, is committed to planting diferent products also for territorial consumption.
