Brasilia: Parliamentarians who support the far-right leader Jair Bolsonaro reiterate their threats against the life and physical integrity of former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, denounces today the Brasil 247 portal, Prensa Latina publishes.
According to the site, after the intimidation of deputies Junio Amaral and Coronel Telhada, now it was Otoni de Paula who promoted the bravado against the founder of the Workers’ Party (PT).
“Do not come to try to visit my house, because the bullet will be there,” De Paula snapped from the Lower House gallery.
Brasil 247 ensures that this was not the first threat against the former president in 2022, an election year.
Amaral released a video in which he handled a firearm while making provocations against the former worker leader, while Telhada tried to intimidate the PT member, who is leading all the polls towards the October elections.
“What brings us here today is a challenge, a threat from an individual, an element called Lula,” said the parliamentarian before the plenary session of the Sao Paulo Legislative Assembly (Alesp).
On March 24, an audiovisual was also circulated on social networks in which a man from the city of Gravatal, in the south of the territorial division of Santa Catarina, practiced target shooting and uttered insults against members of the PT.
Previously, councilman Leonel Radde, from Porto Alegre, capital of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, was threatened with death by neo-Nazis, as were Lula, federal deputy Maria do Rosário and black movement activist Antonio Isupério.
Congresswoman Carla Zambelli also recorded a video with a threat against the former union leader: “I tell you something, there is a gun in my house.”
Online pages assure that the intimidations emerged after the “braggart politicians” fell for false news against Lula that circulated on social networks.
An edited video misleadingly implies that the former president is encouraging the PT militancy to go to the Chamber of Deputies.
The day before, the PT in Alesp filed an action for breach of decorum in the Ethics Commission of the council against Telhada, recorded with a gun and making threats against the former metallurgical turner.
«Go home; bother my wife, my children and my grandchildren. I wait for you there. You and your whole gang,” said the legislator, addressing Lula with a war device.
The PT announced last July that it is analyzing systems to reinforce the security of its undeniable presidential candidate during the electoral campaign.
A report by the newspaper Folha de Sao Paulo, published on the occasion, warned that “it is not a secret that an important part of the Bolsonarista base (Bolsonaro’s supporters) is enthusiastic about weapons” and that group, like the former Army captain, “defends the use of violence”.
