World Health Day is celebrated today in Mayabeque under the slogan: “Our Planet, Our Health”.

In the midst of a pandemic, a contaminated universe and a growing incidence of diseases, this conference will draw attention to the interconnection between the planet’s ecosystems and our health.

Today two activities will take place in the municipality of Güines which promotes awareness about caring for the environment and health, according to Alianiuska Berrier, specialist in health promotion in the northern area of ​​the territory.

Alianiuska added: “Among the actions is a conversation with students and professors of the science chair of the Juan Borrell Urban Pre-University Institute, this morning.”

“Covid 19 continues to plague the province of Mayabeque with an increase in cases of sick people, especially in vulnerable communities, says Berrier, because of this situation it is the exchange with the population that will take place around 8:30 a.m. before meridian in the Asbert neighborhood, from Güines”.

“This meeting will provide information on how to prevent the pandemic and what measures must be taken to improve the natural environment,” the specialist added.

Today, on World Health Day, the population must be aware that the planet is at risk from a triple crisis that is interconnected with people’s health: climate change, loss of biodiversity, and pollution.
