II Renewable Energy Fair concluded in Cuba.

Havana, Cuba: The II Renewable Energy Fair concludes today with the certainty that changing the country’s energy matrix towards 100 percent generation with clean sources is a path to development.

The meeting held at the Pabexpo exhibition center brought together national and foreign experts, businessmen, national industry and universities to discuss renewable energy sources (FRE) and their future prospects on the Island.

Among the objectives of the event is the promotion of foreign investment in Cuba with an emphasis on solar energy and biomass, as well as promoting its efficient use in local development, and in the industrial, service and residential sectors.

Likewise, support the innovation projects in execution and the promotion of the scientific-technical services of the universities and research centers.

During the inauguration, the Commander of the Revolution, Ramiro Valdés, pointed out that one of the priorities of the Cuban government is to guarantee sufficient access to FRE until it reaches 100 percent.

It will be in different forms in which electric vehicles and technology for energy accumulation are included, but he stressed that this goal requires the articulation of all the actors together with the national industry.

According to the minister of the Ministry of Energy and Mines, Liván Arronte, the development of the FRE is an essential element to maintain the sovereignty of the largest of the Antilles.

The 1st edition of the Renewable Energy Fair was held in 2018 in order to promote the development of clean sources in Cuba and was planned to be held every two years, but the Covid-19 pandemic interrupted this objective.
