Havana: At midnight yesterday, August 6, 686 patients were admitted to hospitals, for surveillance in Primary Health Care there are 11,351 people, informed Dr. Francisco Durán García, director of Hygiene and Epidemiology of the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba in the usual press conference.
For COVID-19, 3,941 samples were studied, resulting in 54 positive samples. The country accumulates 289,412 samples carried out and 2,829 positive (0.98%).
Of the 54 diagnosed cases, 52 are Cuban. Of these, 47 were contact of confirmed cases, four with a source of infection abroad and one with an unspecified source of infection. Two are foreigners of Mexican nationality, resident in Cuba with a source of infection abroad.
74% (40) were asymptomatic. Of the total diagnosed cases (54) belong to the age groups of: under 20 years old seven (37%), from 21 to 40 years old 27 (50%), from 41 to 60 years old 16 (29.6%) and over 60 years four (7.4%).
The residence by province and municipality of the 54 confirmed cases is:
Artemisa: 4 cases (Municipality Artemisa 2, Mariel and Bauta with one each)
Havana: 43 cases (18 from the Habana del Este municipality, 5 from Marianao, Boyeros and Plaza de la Revolución with 4 each, 3 from Diez de Octubre, Old Havana, Centro Habana, La Lisa and Guanabacoa with 2 each, 1 of the Playa Municipality).
Matanzas: 1 case (1 from the Jagüey Grande municipality)
Villa Clara: 6 cases (5 from the Camajuaní municipality, 1 from the Santa Clara municipality.)
Of the 2,829 patients diagnosed with the disease, 310 confirmed, 304 98.1% with stable clinical evolution remain. 88 deaths are reported (none of the day), two evacuees, 20 discharges of the day, 2,429 recovered patients accumulate (86%). 6 patients are reported in serious condition.
Until August 6, 185 countries with COVID-19 cases are reported, the confirmed cases amount to 18 million 793 thousand 522 (+ 273 thousand 943) and 707 thousand 715 deaths (+ 7 thousand 176) for a fatality of 3.76 (-0.02).
In the region of the Americas, 10 million 156 thousand 238 confirmed cases (+ 153 thousand 013) are reported, 54.04 of the total cases reported in the world, with 377 thousand 090 deaths (+ 4 thousand 702) for a fatality of 3.71 (-0.01).
