Mayabeque, Cuba: In less than 24 hours, 100 percent of the electrical damage caused by tropical storm Laura, in the municipality of Melena del Sur, were repaired, thanks to the sustained work of the linemen of the Electric Base Business Unit (UEB by its Spanish initials) of the southern town.
What has been achieved has a lot to do with the leadership of the young director of the UEB, the engineer Alexis Escalona Piloto, who with less than 2 months in office, faced the task, together with a group of committed workers.
With the intention of knowing the details, we spoke with him by phone, while he was already taking on other assignments in the neighboring territory of Batabanó, hard hit by Laura’s fury.
The delivery of the young director of the UEB in Melena del Sur, belonging to the Mayabeque Electric Company, confirms the right the Revolution has to trust youth, to give continuity to a process that has among its bases, the expression of values such as altruism, humanism and productiveness.
