Havana: A new tropical storm with the name of Teddy formed early this morning, according to the Forecast Center of the Institute of Meteorology of Cuba (Insmet by its Spanish initials), Prensa Latina publishes.
In its last notice, the institution indicated that the tropical depression number 20 of the current season continued to gain in organization and intensity.
It noted that its maximum sustained winds reached 65 kilometers per hour, with higher gusts and its central pressure is 1004 hectoPascal.
The center of Teddy was located at 13.4 degrees North latitude and 40.4 degrees West longitude, a position that places it about 1785 kilometers west of the Cape Verde Island and 2260 kilometers from the Lesser Antilles.
The tropical storm is heading west northwest at a rate of 22 kilometers per hour, the Insmet warned.
It reported that in the next 12 to 24 hours, Teddy will move with a course near the west northwest and tendency to lean its trajectory to the northwest by the end of the week.
