In addition, around 15 million lives were saved through the use of antiretroviral treatments.

During these months many services were stopped, health professionals are overloaded with work and most of the people had to remain at home due to the isolation measures to control the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.
In this context, several nations have reported problems in health services and patient care, including those of HIV; in addition to the risk of depleting antiretroviral stocks or alterations in the supply of these drugs.
Every December 1 is celebrated the World Day to Fight AIDS (Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome, which is the final stage of HIV infection), an opportunity to generate greater awareness about this disease and promote actions in prevention and treatment globally.
This year’s motto is ‘global solidarity, shared responsibility’, with a call to governments to combat this threat to health and ask the population to multiply efforts in pursuit of healthier generations.
