Mayabeque, Cuba: The cold season is 102 percent in Santa Cruz del Norte due to the implementation of the recovery program in the Victoria de Girón Agricultural Production Cooperative, the Basic Unit of Several Crops Production Cooperative and the Río Blanco Valley, an undeveloped area for more than 20 years.
The Director of the Santa Cruz Agricultural Company, Israel Quintana Ríos, said that the main objective of the creation of agricultural poles in the north of Mayabeque is to achieve local self-sufficiency for the coming cold season.
Currently, they promote the sowing of short-cycle crops and vegetables.
Producers work to guarantee 70 percent of production in 2021. The challenge lies in efficiency during the processes in order to increase the yields per cultivated hectares.
