Havana: At midnight yesterday, December 28, 3 thousand 207 patients were admitted for clinical epidemiological surveillance, 634 suspects, one thousand under surveillance and 1,573 confirmed, MINSAP reports.

For COVID-19, 14,767 samples were studied, resulting in 167 positive samples. The country accumulates one million 448 thousand 906 samples carried out and 11 thousand 601 positive ones.

Of the total number of cases (167): 78 were contacts of confirmed cases; 87 with a source of infection abroad, 2 without a specified source of infection.

Of the 167 cases diagnosed, 76 were female and 91 male.

73.7% (123) of the 167 positive cases were asymptomatic, accumulating a total of 7,638, which represents 65.8% of those confirmed to date.

The 167 cases diagnosed belong to the age groups: those under 20 years of age, 13 for 7.8%; from 20 to 39 years 76 for 45.5%; from 40 to 59 years 51 for 30.5%, 60 and over 27 for 16.2%.

Pinar del Río: 4, Artemisa: 16, Havana: 55, Mayabeque: 9, Matanzas: 24, Cienfuegos: 4, Villa Clara: 6, Sancti Spíritus: 1, Ciego de Ávila: 5, Camagüey: 7, Las Tunas: 9, Granma: 10, Holguín: 8, Santiago de Cuba: 4, Guantánamo: 5.

Of the 11,601 patients diagnosed with the disease, 1,573 remain hospitalized, of them 1,559 with stable clinical evolution. 143 deaths are reported (none of the day), two evacuees, eight returned to their countries, 78 discharges of the day, 9,875 recovered patients accumulate (85.1%). 24 confirmed patients are cared for in intensive care, 10 of them critical and 14 severe.

Until December 28, 189 countries with COVID-19 cases are reported, it amounts to 81 million 492 thousand 541 confirmed cases (+ 373 thousand 557) with 17 million 417 thousand 777 active cases and 1 million 778 thousand 603 deaths (+ 7 225) for a fatality of 2.18%.

In the region of the Americas, 35 million 428 thousand 185 confirmed cases (+ 121 thousand 232) are reported, 43.47% of the total cases reported in the world, with 9 million 388 thousand 432 active cases and 855 thousand 253 deaths (+ 1,665) for a fatality of 2.41%.
