Cuba: Faced with the challenge of the computerization of society, the National Tax Administration Office (ONAT by its Spanish initials) plans to promote the use of new technologies for next year with the enabling of online procedures, Cubasí reports.

Arelys Pérez García, director of Taxpayer Assistance of that organization, said that they work with the computer applications company Desoft to implement the tax situation service in the second phase of the Tax Portal, the ONAT website that enables online services.

According to the specialist, with the new facility, planned for the first quarter of 2021, taxpayers will be able to access all the information they have in the tax administration, know what they have paid and what they lack.

It is also expected to start the sworn declaration of profits for legal persons through the Tax Portal, a procedure that will include the digital signature and is expected to be extended in future campaigns for the sworn declaration and payment of taxes for the benefit of taxpayers.

Regarding the digital signature, she specified that ONAT and the software production company Softel are working to implement it, in order to increase the digital procedures that require the signature of taxpayers and tax administration officials.

Recently, the Office enabled four online services through its new Tax Portal, with greater visuality and the possibility of interaction.

In its Taxpayer Services section, the options for Tax Vector, Consultation, Quota Modification and Suspensions are available, which allow users to obtain documents, learn about changes applied to quotas, as well as raise questions, complaints or suggestions to the administration.

The ONAT is the body attached to the Ministry of Finance and Prices that manages, collects and supervises the taxes that are established by law.
