Havana, Cuba: Cubans are celebrating today the 62nd anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution, considered one of the most influential models of resistance and social struggle in Latin America and the world, Prensa Latina publishes.

On the first day of January 1959, the Rebel Army led by Fidel Castro achieved the final power and the departure of Fulgencio Batista, which marked the end of the tyranny.

As soon as it was installed, the new government began the dismantling of the neocolonial political system, dissolved the repressive bodies and cleaned up the public administration.

The Cuban process transformed dependence on the United States, established in the Monroe Doctrine, with a much greater impact on the continent than any other Latin American insurrection of the last century.

The Caribbean nation achieved exemplary models of free education and health, with valuable results for the world, to which was added international collaboration and the integration of the region with projects such as ALBA-TCP or Celac.

To this were added the conquests in the field of culture, sports, science and technology and other branches.

For more than 50 years, Cuba has maintained the capacity for resistance, as well as the fairness of the struggle for its independence.

The day before, its president Miguel Díaz-Canel congratulated the island’s people on the advent of the New Year and the 62nd anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution.

In his Twitter account, the president expressed his gratitude to the Cubans, whom he called to celebrate the festive date as a family.

‘CubaViva. The grateful hug to our people. The gratitude and embrace felt to the Cuban family, for being inspiration, for their understanding, participation and contribution. As a family, let’s celebrate the new year and the 62nd anniversary of the Revolution?, he wrote.
