Mayabeque, Cuba: Doctors and health professionals exchanged knowledge in the second Regional Workshop of the Maternal and Child Care Program (PAMI) in western Cuba, based in Mayabeque.

The Head of PAMI in the country, Dr. Noemis Doris Causa Palma, said that the objective of the meeting was to review the protocols related to delayed intrauterine growth and prematurity.

The decision of the Ministry of Public Health to have the province as  headquarter of the event was that ten years after it was established, it exhibits an infant mortality rate of 3.5 per thousand live births, the lowest in the history of the territory and one of the lowest in the country.

The first secretary of the Party in Mayabeque, Yanina de la Nuez Aclich and the Governor of the province, Tamara Válido Benítez welcomed the specialists from Pinar del Rio, Artemisa and Matanzas.

The participants in the meeting exchanged experiences and proposed new aspects to continue doing science.

With the commitment to continue working on the reduction of health indicators, professionals in the West of the country will monitor the Maternal and Child Care Program from their territories.
