Havana, Cuba: The President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, affirmed that Cuba will continue to improve, it will continue to grow and win; The Revolution will always be firm, it will be present, and that is the best tribute we can pay to Martí and Fidel.

Those words took place during a meeting with the workers of the José Martí Memorial, one of the most emblematic places in the nation, which this January 27th celebrated its 25th anniversary of being founded by the Commander in Chief.

Díaz-Canel recalled the many moments at the Memorial that marked the life of the country. As a genius idea, well argued, well-reasoned, the Head of State described the birth of this institution as the center of permanent homage to our National Hero. “Fidel, thinking big, like he always did?, he said.

But sometimes ideas alone are not enough, he told the Memorial workers, if they do not carry behind the commitment of people to follow them, enrich them, magnify them and, above all, exalt them.

“You pay a tribute to Martí and Fidel every day, and that is a permanent tribute also to the Homeland and to our Revolution?, the president said.

The director of the institution, Enith Alerm Prieto, considered that the Memorial was the result of Fidel’s daring, always followed by the fidelity and consecration of Haydee Díaz Ortega, its founding director.

The moment was opportune to recognize its workers with a replica of the Memorial in its 25 years. The gift was also for Army General Raúl Castro Ruz and the President, “two eternal collaborators of ours,” said the director of this site, which is a symbol of the Cuban nation.
