Mayabeque, Cuba: The accident rate decreases in Mayabeque up to date compared to the same period of the previous year.
The specialist in Road Safety of the Provincial Directorate of Transport, Yanet Sierra Rivero, refers that this reduction is due to the decrease in the circulation of vehicles and pedestrians due to the measures adopted to contain the spread of Covid -19.
There are two hours where the largest number of these events is concentrated: between 6 and 12 o’clock. The municipalities with the highest incidence are San José de Las Lajas, Güines, Santa Cruz del Norte, Jaruco and Madruga.
The main causes are the excess of confidence of the drivers, the existence of loose animals on the road, technical defects, driving under the ingestion of alcoholic beverages and non-compliance with traffic laws.
Among the strategies applied to create greater responsibility in drivers on the road, when driving vehicles, is the imposition of fines.
