Mayabeque, Cuba: The potato harvest began in the Basic Unit of Cooperative Production (UBPC) 13 de Marzo belonging to the Batabanó Agricultural Company with the performance of a productive work.
The president of the UBPC, Guillermo Fonseca, declared the beginning today in the province of the collection of the tuber corresponding to the 2020-2021 campaign with a yield of 18 tons per hectare.
The municipality of Batabanó is one of the main potato producers in the country. The agricultural authorities in the territory plan to harvest 370 hectares this year planted with national and imported seed.
The Director of the Agricultural Company of the town, Michel Pérez Reyes, confirmed that to meet the predicted yields they have the availability of all the resources.
