Greater support in science is required to enhance local development and strengthen the role of the municipality.

Havana: The Prime Minister of Cuba, Manuel Marrero, called today to generalize the practical application of scientific research to raise the quality of production and services in the country.

Prensa Latina adds that when participating in the annual meeting of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment (Citma), Marrero affirmed that the complex situation experienced in 2020 evidenced the need to seek innovative solutions to the population’s problems.

He considered that greater support in science is required to enhance local development and strengthen the role of the municipality.

The prime minister valued that this link will make it possible to define the main problems and needs that affect each territory, and establish the best ways to solve them.

Citma’s priorities for this year also pointed out the constant training of human resources and scientific potential; as well as the control and implementation of the Life Task to face climate change and the protection of the nation’s natural resources.

At the meeting, Marrero recognized the role played by Cuban scientists in solving internal problems, and extended his gratitude to those who seek different initiatives in the face of problems that affect society.
