Cuba: At midnight yesterday, May 5, 21,253 patients were admitted, 3,323 suspects, 12,382 under surveillance and 5,548 confirmed active, the official website of the Minsap publishes.

For COVID-19, 22,818 samples were studied, resulting in 1,060 positive samples. The country accumulates 3 million 764 thousand 614 samples made and 112 thousand 714 positive.

Of the total cases (1060): 1000 were contacts of confirmed cases; 35 with a source of infection abroad; 25 without a specified source of infection.

Of the 1060 diagnosed cases, 511 were female and 549 male. 42.7% (453) of the 1060 positive cases were asymptomatic, accumulating a total of 56,069, representing 49.7% of those confirmed till the date.

The 1060 diagnosed cases belong to the age groups: under 20 years (177), 20 to 39 years (338), 40 to 59 years (348) and 60 and over (197).

Of the 112,714 patients diagnosed with the disease, 5,548 remain hospitalized, of them 5,428 with stable clinical evolution. 701 deaths accumulate (7 in the day), for a fatality of 0.62%; two evacuees, 54 returned to their countries, on the day there were 1,097 discharges, 106 thousand 409 recovered patients accumulate (94.4%). 120 confirmed patients are cared for in intensive care, 48 critically ill and 72 seriously ill.

Until May 5, 190 countries and 30 territories with COVID-19 cases are reported, the confirmed cases amount to 155 million 620 thousand 878 (+ 873 thousand 803) with 18 million 626 thousand 671 active cases and 3 million 249 thousand 649 deaths (+ 15 thousand 369) for a lethality of 2.09 (=).

In the region of the Americas, 63 million 845 thousand 564 confirmed cases (+189 thousand 094) are reported, 41.03% of the total cases reported in the world, with 8 million 986 thousand 931 active cases and 1 million 552 thousand 440 deaths (+ 5,994) for a fatality of 2.43 (=).
