Cuban President Calls to Implement Innovation Processes in Cuban Business Sector.

Havana: The first secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and president of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel insisted on the importance of conceptualizing the innovation processes of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical area for their analysis and implementation in the rest of the business sector of the country, Radio Habana Cuba publishes.

During a recent meeting of the National Innovation Council (CNI), held at the Palace of the Revolution in Havana, the president recognized the Biotechnology and Pharmaceutical Industries Group (BioCubaFarma) as the most successful experienced in this field.

The head of state indicated to collect in a document the good practices in the sector, so that this methodology is studied and multiplied in the rest of the companies.

For his part, the president of BioCubaFarma, Eduardo Martínez (in the foreground) recalled the imprint of the historical leader of the Revolution Fidel Castro (1926-2016) in the advancement of this sphere and highlighted, among other results, innovation in the face of emergency health imposed by the pandemic caused by the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

The scientist Agustín Lage Dávila considered that the Group has such achievements due to the exceptional nature of its scientists, because they received large resources and because of their innovation in the organizational area.

The session by videoconference with other provinces was attended by Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz, several portfolio holders, and members of the Council, who paid tribute to the recently deceased Doctor of Science, José Luis García Cuevas.

The CNI, created by Agreement number 156/2021 of the Council of State, is an advisory body that assists the President of the Republic.

Its objective is to recommend decisions to promote innovation in the functioning of the Government, the economy and society, so that it contributes to the fulfillment of the national development plan.
