Hernández alluded to the founding date of the group, September 28, 1960, in an act where a million people listened to the historical leader Fidel Castro in the old Presidential Palace (now the Museum of the Revolution), when several explosions began to be heard. .
The then Cuban prime minister called that night to “create a revolutionary surveillance system” to defend the country against terrorist acts perpetrated from Washington.
“Today perhaps it is another type of aggression,” he commented in reference to recent campaigns, based on the use of technologies and virtual platforms, that seek to break the constitutional order on the Caribbean island.
To the confrontation in the communicational field are added acts of vandalism and constant calls to create disorder, which shows the validity of this organization, he said.
The also Hero of the Republic insisted that for this reason, surveillance in the communities constitutes a permanent task, currently with a conception appropriate to the characteristics of each locality and knowledge of the resources, which must be protected by the neighbors.
Along with the development of these traditional tasks, blood donations, collection of raw materials and support in the implementation of economic and social measures adopted by the country, others coexist, he explained.
In this regard, he related the updating of the working methods, the adaptation to the new communication codes and the work in social networks.
The arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic also linked the organization, together with the Ministry of Public Health, to the vaccination processes throughout the national territory, the diagnosis of vulnerable families to provide them with the necessary resources and the distribution of medicines. and food.
In this sense, he recognized the growing role of the young ‘CDs’ in confronting the disease in the complex red zone and in isolation centers, as well as in the production of food and the transformation of their communities.
The celebration of the 61st anniversary coincides with the changes that are being undertaken in vulnerable localities of the country, including more than 60 in the capital, in which the CDRs play a fundamental role together with ministries, student organizations and residents.
The improvement of road infrastructure, hydraulic, roads, housing, educational and health centers, as well as the involvement of young people in study and work, is some of the perceptible transformations in these settlements, he said.
During these days, the activities to celebrate the date included meetings with young people, founders of the organization and producers in communities; volunteer work days; awards and recognition ceremonies; the modernization of the Museum September 28 and the presentation of the book Fidel Castro and the CDRs.
The second edition of the International Forum ‘From the Neighborhood Promoting Solidarity’ also took place, which with the participation of about twenty nations served as a platform to thank those nations for the condemnation of the United States blockade against Cuba.
