That afternoon of October 26, 1959 will be unforgettable. More than a million and a half Cubans, as part of the call against foreign aggression, in defense of national sovereignty and in support of the revolutionary government, would gather in front of the Presidential Palace, fired by Camilo’s passion.

His words from that day take on an extraordinary validity today. 62 years have passed, the circumstances are different but the enemy is the same.

From ovation to ovation, the virile and emotional verb of the Hero of Yaguajay received the support of the people.

?Because this monstrous act confirms the unshakable faith of the Cuban people, because we know that this nation will not be confused by the campaigns carried out by the enemies of the Revolution? It does not matter all the traitors, all the enemies, it does not matter that they try to confuse us, because this people is not going to be confused ?.

This would be the last time that Camilo Cienfuegos addressed the people of Cuba, after his fateful disappearance two days later and that memorable speech in which Bonifacio Byrne’s verses were a flame that set breasts and consciences on fire, today takes on all its meaning, which reaches us today , in who is the continuity of the founding fathers and in the heroes of more recent history

In the words of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, at the closing of the II Plenary Session of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, there is the feeling of the majority, of those who are committed to our country project and who will not tolerate that our sovereignty is violated, nor are the streets ceded to whoever does not truly bet on light where we have walked since the triumph of January 1959.

“Let the imperialists know that they are going to have to fight against a people who are not fooled, an extremely numerous, courageous and heroic people, who are not scared by threats.”
