Diputados de Cuba aprueban Ley de los Tribunales de Justicia.

Cuba: With the presence of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz Canel-Bermúdez, the Cuban deputies approved the Law of the Courts of Justice, legislation that will enter into force on January 1, next year, Radio Rebelde reports.

With the task of bringing justice closer and closer to the place where conflicts develop and occur, the Law of the Courts of Justice reaffirms the impartial nature of judges and courts in the performance of their functions.

In charge of replacing Law number 82 of the Courts, the new norm stipulates that the courts must guarantee access to justice, effective judicial protection and due process.

With the mission of regulating with greater objectivity and rationality the participation of lay judges in the acts of imparting justice, the new law recalls the great differences between the Cuban and American judicial systems.

On the final day of the Seventh Ordinary Period of Sessions of the National Assembly of People’s Power, Cuban deputies will continue to analyze various draft laws, which, if approved, will imply transformations in the social life of the country.
