Mayabeque, Cuba: The president of the Cuban National Assembly, Esteban Lazo Hernández, evaluated in Mayabeque the rendering account process of the delegate to the voters and toured productive areas of the Gamarra agricultural pole in the municipality of Güines.

In dialogue with peasants, Lazo learns about the main tasks in the field whose objective is to increase yields to satisfy the demand for food.

Young peasants from Güines from the Rinconada 1, 2 and 3 farms exchanged with the National Assembly President and expressed their commitment to the Cuban Revolution to contribute to food sovereignty from their work.

At the La Pintura farm in areas of the Hugo Rivero Credit and Services Cooperative (CCS) in San José de las Lajas, the leader had details of the cultivation of clarias in four ponds or water mirrors, as well as the efficient use and exploitation of land in food production.

The  journey included also a tour of the Havana Club Rum Factory in San José de las Lajas where he received information about the sale of the largest volumes in England, France, Canada, Russia, South Africa, the Middle East and other countries.

Lazo Hernández showed interest in workers’ wages, technological innovation and the economic importance for import substitution and the control system to avoid illegalities.

In addition, he received details of the operation in the factory around popular participation and communication with the 57th district of the municipality.

Fruitful was the exchange with workers from the Prestich store opened in recent days for the bottling of high-end products.

In the Chávez neighborhood of the capital of Mayabeque, he spoke with neighbors about the problems that affect this area and the actions of the community reanimation project to improve the quality of life of the residents.

The dialogue was nuanced by stories starring the people who live there, the work in this place and the importance of revitalizing the town.

For two days, a delegation from the National Assembly visited 114 production and service centers, spoke with more than 2,400 people in various municipalities of Mayabeque, and participated in assemblies of accountability of the delegate to the voters.
