Promueven producción de alimentos desde patios y parcelas.

Mayabeque, Cuba: Specialists from the National Institute of Agricultural Sciences, located in Mayabeque, implement the project Gender mainstreaming objectives and actions, aimed at strengthening the innovation system for local development.

The initiative’s main purpose is to promote the movement of Urban, Sub-Urban and Family Agriculture. For this they have the support of the National Coordination of the Local Agricultural Innovation Project.

Also participating are directors of the Urban Farm Agriculture, the Cuban Women Federation, as well as delegates from Popular Councils and officials from the Party and the Government of various municipalities in the province.

The project´s goal is producing healthy food from agriculture based on agro-ecological practices. The actions are implemented in 130 patios. 41 of them are led by women dedicated to the production of vegetables, medicinal plants and condiments.
