Presentan proyecto para mitigar el impacto del cambio climático en las zonas costeras de Cuba.

Mayabeque, Cuba: The workshop for the start of the implementation of the Mi costa project: natural solutions to climate change was held today, at the National Hotel of Cuba, located in Havana, as part of the actions carried out in the country for adaptation based on ecosystems and Cuban environmental policy.

In the meeting chaired by the Vice Minister of Science, Technology and Environment, José Fidel Santana, and the Director of Environment, Maritza García, the participants analyzed the links with the Task Life plan and the 2030 development plan.

The director of CITMA in Batabanó, Elenne Quiñones Echevarría, specified that they also discussed the risks that could arise in meeting the goals and emphasized the importance of strategic alliances between local sectors, from the government, companies and civil society.

The Group of Advisors of the Green Climate Fund will assume the financing in freely convertible currency.

One of the aims of this project is to strengthen the resilience and adaptation of ecosystems and communities to climate change in the country. In the case of Mayabeque, it is applied in the municipalities of Batabanó, Melena del Sur and Güines.
