Cuban Authorities Check Recovery in Mariel Thermoelectric Power Plant .

Cuba: Deputy Prime Minister and Commander of the Revolution, Ramiro Valdés Menéndez, and Liván Arronte Cruz, Minister of Energy and Mines, checked the recovery work after a fire at the Máximo Gómez thermoelectric plant, located in the municipality of Mariel, Artemisa.

Radio Reloj reports that according to the information provided by the authorities, the main lines of work are focused on the start-up of blocks 5 and 6, completing the maintenance of block 8 and restoring the affected area.

In addition, they indicated that work is being done on the rubble and recovery of damaged structures in block 7, the unit from where the fire occurred from a steam turbine, which caused an automatic triggering of the system.

The causes of the incident are still being investigated and, according to previous reports, no loss of human life, injury, or damage to the electrical service was recorded.
