The president highlighted on Twitter the 130th anniversary of the founding by the National Hero of the newspaper Patria.

Havana, Cuba: Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel celebrated on Monday journalism committed to truth, justice, the Revolution, and the people on the occasion of Press Day celebrations on the island, Cubasí publishes.

The president highlighted on Twitter the 130th anniversary of the founding by the National Hero of the newspaper Patria (Homeland).

“Day of celebration and reflection, this March 14. For the 130 years of Patria and for the challenges of the Cuban press in Cuba’s current time. We are honored to accompany revolutionary journalism,” he wrote.

Earlier, the island’s foreign minister, Bruno Rodríguez, described the country’s press as a brave, committed, and faithful defender of the truth in the face of lies and manipulations.

“With Marti’s ethics as the path of Cuban journalism, We are patriotic in the face of those who do not cease in their efforts to destroy the Revolution,” the foreign minister added.

In all provinces, initiatives are being developed in which outstanding workers of the different media are recognized.

The Press Day will end with an international colloquium dedicated to the newspaper Patria, to be held Monday and Tuesday, with journalists from media outlets and leftist institutions in the world, and academics, political and social actors from several countries.
